Seo stands for search engine optimization. It means optimizing your websites to rank your website on the top of the search engines. (Google, Bing, etc). Optimization of a website is of two types: on-page SEO and off-page SEO. On-page SEO focuses on things performed on the website. Off-page focuses on creating backlinks that are done on other websites.
Before optimizing the website first thing we need to know is which keywords we are targeting, and which location like country (India USA Australia, etc..). There are a few important steps to optimize the website for SEO these are :
Step 1: Keyword analysis for SEO
A keyword analysis is a very important step. Google Analytics is the best tool for optimizing your website. Keep keywords with their search volume. We can make use of LSI keywords. Prepare a bucket for a set of keywords like 3-5 keywords targeting the same URL.
Step 2: URL mapping
Do people ask what is URL mapping? In simple terms, it is target a certain set of keywords on website pages. The URL should be keyword-oriented or we can say user-friendly. The page we are targeting should contain the same set of keywords to maximize the optimization.
Step 3: Develop content
Develop quality content. The content should be keyword-oriented. 3-to 4 phrases are enough to target keywords. If this didn’t work do competitor analysis to see how they are targeting the keyword?.
Step 4: Structure your website properly
Proper website structure helps Google to identify which pages are important on your website. A good mannered structure helps search engines to find and index content quickly. The website structure should be hierarchical. Factors that lead to a good structure of the website include breadcrumbs, navigation, and schema.
Step 5: Optimize Page
Optimize page include suggesting meta title and description. Suggesting a title means focusing on keywords. Length 50-60 characters for the title. In creating a description the length should be 150-160 characters. Optimizing the heading section is very important. Use only one heading tag h1 for the page. H1 defines the most important heading. For a single page, only one h1 tag is to be used. H2, H3, H4 there is no restriction on that. H6 defines the least important heading.
Step 6: Add a blog section
Adding fresh content on regular basis is very important. We cannot add fresh content on important pages but yes we can add a blog section where we can add blogs on a weekly and monthly basis. While adding a blog the content should have more than 500 words.
Step 7: Website source code optimized for SEO
In short website source code is a little bit of a technical process that includes internal linking of pages, image alt tag, canonical tag, title tag, description tag, robots.txt, and sitemap. This we will discuss in detail in a further post.
Step 8: Setting up google analytics and search console
Google Analytics is a free tool provided by Google to track website traffic, sessions, users, and goal completion. This tool gives a complete analysis of your website on monthly basis. Search console is also a free tool provided by Google that provides field data that gives index status, search queries, crawl errors, and top pages from where queries are coming.
